Frequently Asked Questions
  • Where will Night to Shine San Ramon Valley be held?
Night to Shine Walnut Creek has become Night to Shine San Ramon Valley! The prom will be held at CPC Danville located at 222 W El Pintado Rd, Danville, CA.
  • What does Night to Shine cost to attend?
Nothing! We just want you to come enjoy and have fun!
  • What happens when I arrive?
Our parking volunteers will direct you where to park. Then head to the blacktop area to check in at station 1. Once the guest and caregivers are checked in, head to station 2 where the guest will meet their buddy. From here the guest and their buddy will move to station 3 and then to the limos.
  • What do the parents and caregivers do?
Once the guest has met their buddy, parents and caregivers are welcome to leave or head to the Respite Room for dinner, relaxation, community, and fun! If you are staying, we ask that you remain in the designated area for the safety of our guests and to minimize capacity issues. The dancing will have a live feed to the Respite Room so you can enjoy watching all the guests have a fun-filled night!
  • What if I am unable to attend in person?
Though we hope you will be able to join us for the prom in person, if you are unable then you are welcome to register for the virtual event. This is a prerecorded video made by Tim Tebow. The link will be emailed to you on the day of the prom for you to watch and participate in at your convenience.
  • Can I bring my own buddy?
All buddies need to register as a volunteer and complete a background check. If your family member or caregiver wants to be your buddy, they need to register by clicking on the 'volunteer registration' button on the 'join us' page.
  • What do I wear?
We would love to see you in your gorgeous gowns and spiffy suits, though you are welcome to wear whatever you feel comfortable in! If you would like to attend our complimentary formalwear boutique to pick out a dress or suit, and you did not register for a time slot on your registration form, please contact us at
  • How old do I have to be to volunteer?
Most volunteer roles are for ages 16 and up. We do have limited spots on some teams for ages 14-15. There are also limited spots for ages 10-13 to volunteer to cheer on the red carpet with a chaperone.
  • What positions are available for me to volunteer in?
Our greatest need is volunteers to serve as a Buddy (16 years old and up) for one of the guests. Each Guest will be assigned a Buddy who will remain with them the entire evening, helping to create a special night for them to remember! This is a fun role as you get to attend the prom! We will also need volunteers in areas such as Activities, Coat Check, Food Service, Hair and Makeup, Red Carpet cheering and more! We will need over 300 volunteers! For more details on the areas to volunteer click the button below.
  • Why do I need a background check?
For the safety of all of our guests, the Tim Tebow Foundation requires that all of our volunteers age 18 and older have a recent background check. If you attend one of our host churches, they will contact you to complete this background check through them. All others will receive an email with a link directing them to 'Protect My Ministry' whom we have partnered with to complete these checks. Night to Shine San Ramon Valley will cover the cost of this background check. Please do not delay in completing the information for 'Protect My Ministry' as we need clearance in order for you to volunteer.
  • I have done a background check through my child's school or through work, do I need to do another one?
Yes. Background checks are not shared between organizations. Therefore we need a current background check through either one of our 5 host churches or through our Night to Shine account at 'Protect My Ministry'.
  • What is the dress code for volunteers?
This depends on your role. If you are a buddy, dress nicely and modestly with a dress, nice slacks, semi formal, formal dress, suit or tux. For other teams most wear slacks or a dress, your team leader may ask for something more specific such as all black. We ask that volunteers not wear jeans or t-shirts, but do wear comfortable shoes!
  • Will I receive training prior to the event?
Yes! There is a mandatory training for all volunteers that will be held during the week prior to the prom. You will sign up for a training evening in your registration form. At this training we will go over the event flow, locations of activities, safety, and tips for interacting with people with special needs. You will also meet your team leader and go over specifics for your team.
  • What time do I need to arrive?
For most teams, Volunteer Check in is from 3:30pm - 4:15pm. From 4:15pm - 5pm your team lead will review what your role for the night entails and give you any last minute details if needed. The prom starts at 5pm, therefore we request your earlier arrival to be ready for the guests when they start arriving.
  • If I am serving on a Pre-Event Team only do I need to attend the training?
If you are serving on a Pre Event Team that does not interact with the guests, then you do not need to attend the training. If you are volunteering at the boutique, you will receive an online quick training to complete prior to the boutique date. If you are volunteering at the boutique and at the prom, you will need to complete the mini boutique training and attend the full training.
